Morning News Round-Up -- 9.15.09: Mostly Redwood City Round-Up...

Here are two words that are certain to raise some eyebrows: eminent domain. This time for a vocational training facility in Redwood City as part of Sequoia Union High School District...

While one High School District talks eminent domain, another one (San Mateo Union) considers something much less controversial (solar power)...

And San Mateo Union might be on the right environmental track... because Save the Bay came out with their most-polluted local water ways. There are several and some are right down the street from you...

Speaking of environmentalists... sort of. A couple in Woodside illegally cut down a tree in their yard, now they face a $10,000 fine from the Town Council. I cannot tell a lie... we await COWs response...

It was the best of times and it was the worst of times... that's how two Redwood City community groups are looking at High-Speed Rail. The Daily Journal delves deeper...

The Redwood City drunk driving check-point that was closed down in front of the Fair Oaks Community Center is getting increased attention... this issue is not going away.

The budgets for cities are getting worse before they get better. (So is Watch Dog's...) Redwood City's budget gets some ink today.

Half Moon Bay's November City Council race has been written about here, and elsewhere, before. Crowded field and a 20-something... oh, and a $20 million bill to a local developer...

We think Michelle Durand may be advocating for mild violence in her Off the Beat column today in the Daily Journal... but only for really stupid people.

The County Times highlights the possible closure of a cat shelter in Redwood City. Grrrr...
