Morning News Round-Up -- 12.30.08: More buried news...

On Christmas Eve, Watch Dog went into great detail about folks trying to bury bad news during holiday weeks. Add this to that file. Visa USA Inc. will be moving to 595 Market Street in San Francisco from its current home in Foster City -- and announced it the week of Christmas seemingly in an effort to avoid public scrutiny about the move. (Crazily) officials from Foster City aren't that concerned...

The second (ugly) office tower on San Bruno Mountain is facing financial 'leasing problems' and the completion of the building is on hold. In other words, nobody is signing up to move into the building and the developers (Myers Development Company) would rather have a project incomplete than empty...

The guy who escaped from the Redwood City minimum-security prison only to turn himself in last week was officially charged with felony escape...Watch Dog can only assume that felony escape convicts end up serving time somewhere difficult to leave...

A Bond Oversight Committee for the Millbrae Elementary School District is seeking participants. A Watch Dog Group is seeking Watch Dogs...(and Watch Dog is writing about it.) Hopefully this process won't be as fixed as the San Mateo County Supervisors selection...

Watch Dog posted about this yesterday, but the woman who was in the crashed ambulance in Palo Alto died yesterday. Remember that the driver of the ambulance says that he didn't remember the accident at all -- even though some news stories are now attributing the accident to rain and wet leaves...

Palo Alto ambulance crash victim...a turn for the worse...

The ambulance crash last week has taken another tragic turn today.

The woman that was being transported to a medical appointment at Stanford via ambulance when the vehicle crashed, died today according to this story.

Today's story seems to suggest that the rain, wet road conditions, and leaves on the road contributed to the accident -- which may be true. But remember this tidbit from a previous Watch Dog posting about the story:

"...the driver in the crash "does not recall the incident and could not provide any information as to the cause" -- according to Palo Alto Police Detective Brian Phillips..."
