Morning News Round-Up -- 11.10.08: Step Down this Week?

What can only be described as another nail in the Palo Alto Police Chief's coffin ("a few hundred" or "200" -- depending on whom you read) marchers protested Chief Lynn Johnson's comments about "do-rags" and other quasi-racist stuff. Remember, Watch Dog predicted her demise first. Videos of the march are here. The Palo Alto Weekly agreed with Watch Dog about the Chief stepping down. The news side of the Weekly's house wrote a story about their own Editorial Board's recommendation...meta...The Mercury News also has a story and video.

And some other news...

"Downtown Belmont" -- plans are being discussed to make this a reality between El Camino and th Avenue. You have ideas? Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Here is a garbage story -- sort of. The City of Foster City is suing a resident for not taking her barrels in and for not cutting weeds in her yard. In these troubled times, it is good to know that frivolous things are still receiving attention...

Congresswoman Anna Eshoo outlined her view of President-elect Obama's agenda. When discussing the US being better neighbors to the world, her money quote:
"...There should be a green card stapled to every Ph.D...."

It seems the crab season is set to open on November 15th -- but it might not open on time, according to the Comment Section on the Half Moon Bay Review.
