San Mateo County goes to vote...even if 1/3 of you already have...

Apologies for slacking off yesterday. Many of you have been loyal readers and visitors and I failed you yesterday by not posting anything.

I have some news today that you probably won't find anywhere else. You'll remember the San Mateo County voter update from last week.

Well, as the polls open this morning, here is what the County looks like (as of Sunday). Many more ballots could have (and certainly did) come in yesterday by mail and will come in today by mail to the Registrar:
Registered voters: 389,717
Permanent absentee/vote by mail voters: 133,066
Ballots returned by mail: 112,857
Early votes (people who went to the Registrar early): 5,314
Returned by mail + Early votes: 118,171
Turnout as of 11/2 (Returned by mail & Early/Total Reg.) : 30.32%
Nearly 85% of people who could vote by mail already did by Sunday. Some larger percentage than that will have their mailed ballot hit the yesterday or today -- another percentage will bring their ballots to a polling place. Nearly 1/3 of the voters in the County have already voted and the polls haven't opened yet. That's something.
