Morning News Round-Up -- 4.17.09: Can you spare a $1,000,000,000?

$1 billion. That's the cost of public transit, road, and waterway improvements we need in the County. That sounds expensive...hold on to you wallets. This was part of a report at the Progress Seminar that the County bigwigs hold in Monterey each year. Hopefully Deep-Throats down south will dish more...

There is nothing quite as insidious as elected officials voting to make more money AND stay in office longer. But this is what the Foster City City Council is considering. That way, the self-serving nature of this proposal will go away...

The Menlo Park City Council sided with the right-minded folks that want to demolish AND replace the pedestrian bridge over 101 that connects Flood Triangle and Belle Haven...kudos MP Council. (Remember, some folks wanted to permantnetly separate the two neighborhoods recently -- for vaguely racist reasons.)

The phrase "drive through" bank has new meaning in Woodside...someone actually tried to drive through the bank...

The San Mateo County Democratic Central Committee unanimously decided to...do nothing. Actually, they voted not to make an endorsement of the Pacifica sales tax increase. (Hat tip: Riptide)
