"No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the Legislature is in session"

Watch Dog has said it before, but Dan Walters of the Sacramento Bee is the best. His column today points out what is going on in Sacramento. Most telling is his first paragraph:

Gideon J. Tucker's famous warning that "No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the Legislature is in session" takes on new meaning now that the California Legislature has, in effect, extended its 2008 session because of the budget stalemate.

The take away from this column? Nobody knows what is going to happen with the budget and the bills in Sacramento surrounding the budget -- but a few things are certain, there are some special interests that are about to feed at the trough, fees are about to go up, and local governments' checkbooks are going to be less full when the state finalizes the budget.

Way to go State Legislators!

Where are our San Mateo County's folks in Sacramento? Where is their outrage?
