Watch Dog just received a "what if?" email regarding the pending garbage contracts, which (according to the email) starts heading to City Council's next week.
Here is an excerpt from the email received at watchdogsanmateo@gmail.com:
Evan Boyd, the General Manager of Allied Waste, in the San Mateo Daily Journal, said that they have an option that would save every household over $500 per year. While Mr. Boyd is probably not the most unbiased person on this, what if he is close to correct?
That was followed by this interesting "what if" -- seemingly inspired by the recent political conventions:
What if Barack Obama or John McCain were to push a $500+ tax (or fee increase) per household in their Presidential platforms? They'd get lambasted...right? Then the question seems to be worth asking: How are voters going to react when they find their City Council's are considering a $500+ fee increase?
This is the type of email Watch Dog loves to receive from readers. So keep it up insiders...
