Fool me once, shame on Atherton...fool me twice...

Fool me once:
Recall that the Town of Atherton screwed up the "off-haul fees" for construction dirt in 2006 and needed to refund money in 2007. You'll probably remember this because it was pretty public and the battle involved one of Atherton's most high-profile residents, Steve Westly.
Well, you can't fool Atherton residents, or astute Councilmembers, twice:
On October 16th, Watch Dog posted an email Atherton Councilmember Charles Marsala sent out to folks about possible rebates constituents may be entitled to because of over-charging from the Building Department.

On October 21st, Mark Hynes, the on-again-off-again Atherton City Attorney, said not so fast. That Marsala may have jumped the gun a bit.

Well, there was as story this past weekend in the Daily News papers about refunding money to those that have paid fees to the Town -- just like Marsala said would happen. (Note: If you have to ask why it took time to get this story online, then you haven't read this. Basically, the Daily News loved the Commodore 64 so much they are using that technology to publish online.)
Perhaps Atherton decision-makers should consider President Bush's message when imposing fees:
