Morning News Round-Up -- 10.29.08: Watch Dog's "Closing Argument" Edition...

In 2004, about 800 folks voted early by heading to the San Mateo County Elections Office (beautifully situated in the rolling hills). This year, 2,412 people have voted early. I'm not Math Dog, but that is a massive increase. I wonder what has people so jazzed to vote this year?

The Daily Journal chimes in on the SSF Unified School District Board race. "Three excellent choices for two seats." They go with Ronald Burgess and Maurice Goodman, however. That leaves out Judy Bush.

If you are headed to the polls, and trust the Daily Journal, you could bring this list of their positions on things on the ballot.

An Op-Ed in the Daily Journal makes a compelling read about the Hillsdale Garden Apartments in San Mateo. (Hint: It doesn't make Essex Property Trust sounds that great.)

The County decided to sue top officials of Lehman Brothers. They hired Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy. This is going to be good...(Cotchett is the best -- according to most. Take a look at what the Chronicle said about him.)

The Peninsula Partnership Leadership Council and the San Mateo County Youth Commission released their bill of rights for children.

EPA lost another legal battle of their rent stabilization ordinance. Ouch.

The Governor is talking about a sales tax hike...again. Strap yourselves in folks, right after the election, the political world of California is about to get nutty.

And the San Mateo County Times gets in on the action of the Atherton race.
