Morning News Update 10.05.08 -- and some other nuggets

Sarah Palin is coming to Burlingame today. Perhaps she would be interested in doing an interview with Watch Dog? Come on. I promise not to ask what newspapers she reads, what she thinks of the Bush doctrine, or if she knows any Supreme Court decisions (other than Roe v. Wade)...Watch Dog anticipates a complete list of attendees at some point soon.

More housing/commercial/retail development coming to Bay Meadows. A San Mateo Planning Commission hearing is set for October 14th for your input. Details here.

Expect less graffiti around town...or towns, as the case may be. The idiots?/artists? who have been tagging everything in site have been nabbed, thankfully.

The Menlo Park City Council League of Women Voters debate has been rescheduled for October 22nd. The race includes incumbents Andy Cohen and Kelly Fergusson and Rick Ciardella. Astute Watch Dog readers will remember some interesting stuff about this race -- including current Councilmember John Boyle not endorsing his colleagues -- a rare profile in courage these days. Why is it that this races seems more civil than the race in Atherton? Perhaps it isn't, but it doesn't seem as nasty...
