What the heck is wrong with Atherton?

If you think the nastiest campaign going on is taking place on the national stage -- then you aren't paying attention. It is taking place between 101 and 280...in Atherton.

Watch Dog is fascinated with Atherton politics these days.

Here is a quick run-down about this recent story -- at least as far as I can tell.

It seems John Johns (great name) got let go from his job in 2007.

Atherton councilmember Kathy McKeithen was a Johns fan -- at least according to a court document that a source forwarded to me. (I will post in the next day or two some information about this topic.)

Fast forward to November's election, McKeithen is running for re-election with a number of challengers.

Johns (McKeithen's friend?) is mad at Atherton Councilmember Charles Marsala (ok name) for how the investigation went down that led to his removal from office.

That is what Watch Dog has been able to cobble together thus far about the history of all of this.

But now it gets weird:

Elizabeth Lewis (normal name) is a candidate for City Council in Atherton now -- and also last June. John Johns (still a great name) filed for records from Atherton about Elizabeth Lewis's home remodel.

Some Watch Dog questions that probably should be answered (hint, hint: Johns, McKeithen, Lewis, Marsala -- you should get in touch):

Is this a way to help Councilmember McKeithen get re-elected?

Does John Johns even know Elizabeth Lewis?

Is this tactic normal in Atherton?

Is Atherton larger or smaller than Wasilla?

An astute Watch Dog reader may remember this nugget about the current City Attorney jumping ship without much notice...is this related?

Extra credit for folks who get the picture...
